Lament

On the night of the full moon we
Danced beneath its glow
With flowers woven in our hair
Oh how our joy did grow

Fires were lit to share the light
And songs were sung and shared
And we rejoiced for a happy world
Our lives were unimpaired

But as the years came and passed
Our numbers grew quite small
There are so very few of us
And there seems to be a wall

Between us and the world outside
All the joy seems gone
Faces now are all careworn
Where once the light had shone

And so we wait until that day
When people turn once more
To old beliefs, and we will rise
When joy has been restored
